    Elliott’s Nursery!

I’ve really wanted to put up pictures of Elliott’s transportation-themed nursery, so here I am…finally doing so :).

Brian LOVED putting together the crib & changing table…perfect finds from his favorite store…COSTCO :). We were so blessed to find the EXACT style/color of furniture that we wanted at Costco at the exact time we needed it! Yahoo!!

As you may or may not remember from a post in March, my dear friend Amy Wallace and her mom made us these PERFECT, WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL wall hangings and quilt. They are my favorite parts of his room…every day I just stare at them and marvel at Amy and her mom’s talent…! I’m so grateful!!!

My sweet sister-in-law Melanie made us a crib skirt out of one of the fabrics from the quilt. You can see it below. I love knowing such talented people :).

The infamous, Glory-of-God-in-a-rocking-chair is below…thanks again, Mom and Dad, for making it possible for me to have the best rocking chair on the planet!!! I love it, and think of you EVERY time I sit in it!!

One of the last projects I worked on before Elliott was born:

A close up of the wall hangings

    A cute little touch:

Melisa got us this little sign for our anniversary last year: “Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big is really is…a beautiful little baby.”

How true it is…our love has grown so much more in the last almost-4 months! Our love for each other has grown and our love for our little E.B. grows exponentially daily…what a gift he is. We do not take him for granted. We praise God for our little gift of love every day!
  • All American, Baby!!

    All American, Baby!!

Be warned…this “4th of July” post is mostly a big excuse to post a bunch of themed pictures of Elliott.
    🙂
Elliott just loved his first 4th of July (outside the womb). It was a glorious day here in Tacoma. The 4th of July is definitely one of those days where it is just an utmost blessing to be in the house we’re in…front row seats to all the celebrations!
We sat out on our deck to watch the famous air show.
Boats gather from all around to watch

If you look veeerrrrry closely at the following picture, you can see an aircraft hovering above the water. This was, by far, the coolest part of the air show. Here’s the paragraph that describes this plane:

USMC – AV-8 Harrier Demonstration Born during the national call-to-arms immediately following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Marine Fighting Squadron 311 (VMF-311) was first organized on December 1, 1942. The Squadron has deployed in World War II, the Korean war, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and now in Afghanistan and Iraq. The AV-8 Harrier aircraft has Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing (V/STOL) capabilities which allows this jet to practically hover in mid-air.

It demonstrated the Vertical takeoff and hovered over the water for a LONG time…sooo cool!!

    Ahhh, Mount Rainier…you are perfect.

    4th of July snuggles

Look at this kid. Could there possibly be a cuter All American Baby?

We were trying to do some “artsy” photos with this stool… As you can see, Elliott doesn’t look so sure about the whole idea… Ah, well…we tried :).

    Red, White, and Blue!

He does this thing where he sucks on his lower lip…I just think it’s the CUTEST…

And now, for a series of adorable faces from Thee One and Only, Elliott Adorable Moberg!

If I ever take up photography, I would like to ONLY photograph my own child. I can’t get enough of his little face!!

    IN OTHER NEWS:
(Congratulations if you’ve made it this far through the post!)

Elliott has started sleeping through the night. I’m sorry, did you catch that? My little man has all of a sudden decided he doesn’t need me anymore at 3am. I’m not quite ready to say “He’s sleeping through the night,” but he has sure STARTED to!! He’s now done it 3 times in 5 days. The first night he did it was the night of July 3rd. So I woke up around 3:30am like normal and was surprised he hadn’t cried yet. I couldn’t quite let myself fall all the way back asleep because I was expecting him to cry at any minute. But then I looked at the clock at 4…4:30…5…5:30…6… and he was STILL ASLEEP!!! The funniest part is that every time Brian woke up and realized he wasn’t awake yet, he would ask (because he was trying to be helpful), “Oh, do you want me to go get him?” “No!!!!” I would laugh. “Let him sleep!!” And sure enough, that was our little 4th of July present from our sweet Elliott: first time sleeping through the night (10:30pm-7:15am). I feed him consistently between 7:15 and 7:30 every morning, so as SOON as the clock struck 7:15 and we heard him make the tiniest noise, we both bolted into his room…we couldn’t wait to see him and congratulate him!! This is a memorable day for us, as last year on the 4th of July we found out we were pregnant. What joy!!!!

    Happy 4th, Everyone!!

  • 3 Months Old!

    3 Months Old!

    Okay, be warned.
I am totally becoming “that mom.” In a lot of ways. This month, I have said that about myself on multiple occasions…I feel like every time I turn around, I say to myself with an eye roll, “Oh, Susanne…you are totally ‘that mom’“…
Like, a FANTASTIC day is a day that I get to stay home all day and just take pictures of Elliott. I’ve taken almost 400 pictures of Elliott. In the last 25 days. I can see it coming now though…“that mom” who has a billion (literally) pictures of her first kid…
Like, I’ve taken a ton of videos of him this month. That would be extremely boring to 99.9% of the world. But I think they are wonderful. I can see myself being “that mom,” showing these to Elliott’s first girlfriend (when he’s 25) and oohing and ahhing over them, not realizing that she doesn’t care about watching a baby sit on a play mat and do nothing for 20 minutes…

Like, he’s over 3 months old now, and we’ve only left him with someone once…for about 90 minutes, when he was 2 weeks old. I never thought I’d be “that mom” that never leaves her kids with anyone. In my defense, it really has happened accidentally. I just never want to be away from him, so–naturally–it never occurs to me to leave him. The thought of checking him into the nursery at church is like thinking about sending him off to boarding school…no way!! In my mind I feel like we just had him yesterday and so we have “plenty” of time to practice leaving him with other people…But somehow, 3 months have slipped by soooo quickly…
So, all that to say, I’ve posted a few videos here, and I want you to be warned before clicking on them. These are actually the best ones of them all :). But I haven’t figured out how to cut the videos down to the relevant length let alone edit them yet, so….”some” people might think they’re kind of boring… If that “some”one is you…don’t judge me :). If you’re easily bored, I would just look at the pictures and NOT click on the videos.
But if you want to see the cutest baby ever doing the cutest things ever in a perfectly cute amount of time, then I would definitely click on the little videos below…
Here are some highlights from the last month:

Though I don’t have a picture of it, Elliott is officially in his crib full time. In fact, this month he has become very aware of his crib, so when I put him down for a nap, he recognizes his surroundings and starts to protest instantly. His eyes look to the left, then to the right, then they get HUGE and he looks at me like, “Noooooo!!!!!!” It’s devastatingly cute.

Elliott got to meet two of my dearest friends this month!

Melissa and I have been really great friends since our PLU days. I think I laugh more when I’m with Melissa than any other friend I have. I just adore her, and usually have a sore throat after talking to her because we always have so much to catch up on that we end up talking for HOURS. We could talk for days on end and never run out of things to say. She lives in Vancouver, WA now and was able to come up and spend a refreshing couple of days with us. She got Elliott this adorable little monkey and two super cute outfits! Look how much he loves her!! Such a blessing to see her and have little EB meet her!
My dear, dear Jennalise. If you know me well, you know how Jennalise has such a cherished place in my heart. She lives in her husband’s hometown of London, so I don’t get to see her as much as my heart would desire. But she is in town this month and finally got to meet Elliott! What a blessing for me! Jenna is also an incredible photographer, and spent some time capturing some amazingly gorgeous pictures of Elliott. To be posted soon…

This month Elliott learned how to push his shoulders off the ground during tummy time!

He loves clasping his hands, and shoving them both in his mouth. So cute, until he gags on them…which is a fairly common occurrence :).

He learned how to roll over from his back to his front! He has been soooo close, and he finally just did it officially with absolutely no help on June 24. A couple weeks ago he learned how to get to his side and then he’d roll onto his tummy but his arm would get stuck underneath him and he wouldn’t be able to push himself up. June 24 was the first time that he rolled to his side, rolled to his tummy, AND got his arm out from underneath him! Yay, Elliott!! Here are some funny pics of him “getting stuck” on his arm:

On June 20th, when he was exactly 3 months old, he (for the first time) got his arm out from under him when on his tummy, but I had to help him with the first half, as you can see.

On June 24th, he did it all by himself! Although I didn’t get video of him rolling to his side on his own, I promise he did :). This video is hilarious, by the way. He chokes himself a couple times before we get to the interesting part…like I said, I don’t know how to edit video yet :).

Elliott talks to himself all the time and has this incredibly cute giggle! We LOVE it! Delightful squeals have filled the Moberg home this month! I haven’t been able to get a great video of him talking, but this is not too bad. Here is a little sample of him talking:

And here is a video of him singing with his dad….it’s a long one, but worth every minute of your time…soooo cute!

Elliott is just beginning to learn the concept of grabbing things. He still mostly does it by accident, but one evening he grabbed Brian’s nose over and over and over again, and it looked pretty intentional! It’s a start :).

And finally, here are a few more random pictures from this month that are too adorable not too post!
Elliott Brian, you are our joy and our pride! We love you! Happy 3 months!!
  • Tribute to Daddy-O

    Tribute to Daddy-O

Brian is not your typical dad, in that no sports game, round of golf, or cigar smoke with his buddies can entice this dad away on Father’s Day. All he asked for was to be with us. So we spent the day staring at sweet Elliott, and ooing and ahhing over every little move he made.

That is, until I accidentally fell asleep after putting Elliott down for a nap. Two and a half hours later, I awoke to the garage door opening…apparently Mr. Dad snuck out and wandered the aisles of Home Depot & Lowes. Okay, okay…so I guess there are two things that can pull him away from his dear family :).

Elliott picked out a special shirt to wear to celebrate his dad’s first Father’s Day:

    Like father, like son…!

Elliott and I made Brian a (pretty dang cute) card for Father’s Day. On the front is a picture of the two of them with the quote, “My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” (Clarence Budington Kelland)

Elliott’s middle name is Brian for a purpose. There is no other man on earth that I would rather have my son grow up watching and learning from than Brian Moberg. Brian–brave, strong, and true. I believe Elliott will embody these same traits as his father! Elliott gets to grow up watching his dad lead his family boldly, love & cherish his wife deeply, and fear the Lord whole-heartedly. Brian will never need to tell Elliott to do these things one day…his life is the perfect example for our son. I couldn’t possibly ask for more…

And, on a much more surface-y, less deep note…he’s shaping up to look just like his Daddy-O, which is…AWE-SOME.!!! We could use a few more good-looking men in this world!!!

Happy Father’s Day to the greatest Dad Elliott could ever ask for. I love you, my Love.

  • Blogging Backwards

    Blogging Backwards

If blogging backwards were an Olympic event, I’m sure I could win a gold medal.

What is “blogging backwards”, you ask? Well, it’s a beautiful sport for those of us who can’t seem to blog on time. Namely, me.

May is such a BEAUTIFUL month. This year especially. It’s always had my birthday in it, but this year two very special events were added in my world: Mother’s Day, and Elliott’s second month birthday. To top it off, Doug, Melanie, & Fable came to visit! And don’t you worry–we took hundreds of pictures to capture every event… It’s just that I haven’t had time to post them. So finally, here I am. In June, (at least it’s still June 3rd!) posting about our glorious month of May. So you’ll have to go backwards and click on the little “May” link or, of course, just keep scrolling, scrolling, scrolling down to see everything, but I guarantee it’ll be worth every click and scroll. I am sure you will fall in love with our sweet little Elliott over and over again.

Here are a couple of random pictures from May to salt your trail a little…

Does he take your breath away like he takes mine?

Just chillin’ in the bumbo! Thanks, Aunty Emmy for my cool seat!!

Hahahaha! Look at this face!!! Do you think he saw a spider or something?!?
In recent news, Elliott has become SOOOO aware of us! Besides lighting up when he sees one of our faces, his eyes follow us around the room now! He watches us walk around and just stares at everything we do. It is so fun to watch these learning milestones in his life!!

I’d like to say that I’ll try and do better posting on time from here on out, but let’s be real…it’s only going to get more difficult as the days, weeks, and months go on. So, like I said…hand over the Gold Medal :).

Hope you enjoy the posts from May!
  • 2 Months Old!

    2 Months Old!

Our baby is growing up so fast! He is the most smiley baby I’ve ever met…he literally lights up every time he sees Brian or me with a smile and a giggle that could melt the hardest of hearts. I couldn’t possibly count the amount of minutes I spend each day just smiling at him so that he’ll smile at me! What is it about getting a baby to smile at you??? It’s an accomplishment that could put any PHD to shame… Elliott’s smile could make the world go round again if it were to ever stop spinning…we adore him.

We had a low key celebration for his 2 month birthday. We went down to Ruston Way as a family to snap a couple pics and then (I know, this is so unlike us…) came home and took about a hundred more :). I’m going to put several here because I couldn’t filter them out anymore! And trust me, I already had to wade through A TON just to only pick these special few…

His first time on daddy’s shoulders…Can’t you just see what he’s thinking? “Hmm, this is new…Do I like this? Um, I don’t like this! Get me down!!”
    Pondering…
I just love his little face!!!

Here are some highlights from his second months of life:

*As you can probably see from the pictures, he’s starting to get some meat on his bones! His little thighs and feet finally have a layer or two of fat on them. Although he’s still very skinny for his height, he’s moving closer towards the “normal” range…

    * He smiles and giggles all the time! One of his favorite things is his play mat. It has this mirror on it, and as soon as we put him down to “play,” he instantly smiles and giggles and “talks”…I think he’s giving the baby in the mirror advice :). As much as I love holding him, it’s almost more fun to put him on the mat and just watch him smile, giggle and talk to the mirror for 15-20 minutes!

Okay, I’m posting about a hundred pics of this because he’s just SO DARN CUTE!!!!!!!!!! Look at those smiles and giggles!!!

    * He loves to stand! (Assisted, obviously.) He is getting sooo good at it! His little legs are so strong!

    * He is almost too long for his bassinet!!! (Sniff, sniff…) This picture was actually taken June 1st. He is wearing a 6 MONTH SLEEPER because he’s too long for all of his 0-3 things now!! My goodness!!! (Thanks, Sara for this adorable sleeper!)

    * We started having him nap in his crib for the first time this month as we’ve been more intentional with nap times and have realized he needs a darker, quieter room to nap in. Also, I’ve started putting him down in his crib for the second half of the night after I feed him (usually around 3 am) so the bright sunrise that shines directly into our bedroom window won’t wake him up at 5 am… But based on his length, it’s looking like we may have to move him to his crib for good! 🙁

Here are some random shots from my phone from the month of May:

Oh, Elliott…you light up our lives :). We love you.

  • Happiest of all Days

    Happiest of all Days

Happy Mother’s Day to me, the most blessed mom on the planet.

I couldn’t be more grateful to be Elliott’s mom…that makes me the most blessed woman on Earth. Brian has been saying he couldn’t wait to celebrate Mother’s Day ever since about month 2 of puking my guts out. My husband has so much vision to bless and celebrate me. That, in and of itself, is such a gift…but then to add Elliott to the equation? Over abundantly blessed am I.

We had a relaxed morning together at home as a family and then headed up to Alki Beach (one of our favorite Seattle spots). We cozied up in Starbucks. I enjoyed a delicious caramel macchiato, Brian guzzled down a vente ice water, and Elliott took a nice long nap. Brian had made reservations weeks ahead of time for brunch at my favorite restaurant, Salty’s on Alki. PEOPLE–if you have not been to Salty’s on Alki for brunch, I would dare to say you have not truly lived. It is INCREDIBLE. For just a few bucks, you have access to all you can eat of the food from the Land of Glory. Here’s a list of what I ate that morning:

    2 1/2 mini donuts
    5 Crab legs
    Several shrimp
    Pineapple
    Eggs benedict
A few bites of an omelette with crab & shrimp
French toast with whipped butter & syrup
Strawberry crepe with cream & sugar
Omelette with ham, peppers & cheese
Chocolate chip crepe with lemon cream & sugar
    More pineapple
    Strawberries
    Chocolate covered frozen banana
    Chocolate covered twinkie
    Burnt cream
    2 pineapple orange juices

I thought I was going to explode, but it was worth every bulging moment.

Alki Beach overlooks Elliott Bay & the Seattle skyline, and it was our sweet Elliott’s first time visiting the bay that shares his name. Here are a couple of pics in front of his namesake.

And these are a few more of my favorites from the day he was “Bananas over Mommy”…

    Oh, how I love him!!!
  • Elliott’s First Easter

    Elliott’s First Easter

Elliott’s first holiday was actually fairly uneventful. No Easter egg hunts for us this year! But we did get him dressed up in a cute little outfit and made it to church. Here are a few shots from our day! (P.S. The beautiful blue blanket was made for us by our friend Shirley! Elliott loves it!)

    Elliott “Adorable” Moberg

“Thanks, Aunt Tabitha, Uncle Kevin, Taylor & Hailey for my handsome shirt!”

I can’t stop laughing when I look at this picture!! 🙂 He has the most hilarious faces!

“Mom, you’re embarrassing me…enough with the kisses!”

  • Happy 1 Month Birthday!

    Happy 1 Month Birthday!

In some ways, it feels like we’ve had Elliott our entire lives. In others, it seems like we just got home from the hospital yesterday. Each day feels like 10 days, but at the same time I get to the end of the day and find myself saying, “Where did today go?!?” My life is like one big oxymoron right now.

Elliott turned one month old yesterday!!!! He’s practically on his way to college…(sniff, sniff)…

Grandma and Grandpa Moberg came over and the four of us enjoyed some dee-licious Mint Mud Pie in honor of Elliott’s big day. Hey, maybe he even got some mint chocolate milk out of the deal :).

Get a load of our special delivery!

    “Put ’em up!”

    “Smile, Elliott!” “Who, me?”

All tuckered out from partying so hard
Elliott, you have enriched our lives in every way. You make even the 2 o’clock hour the most glorious time of the day because we get to spend it with you. You are the cutest, brightest, smartest, stretchy-est, strongest, tallest, and skinniest 1 month old in the entire world. You are perfect, and we adore you in every way.

In-laws, Outlaws and Good Friends 🙂

Here are a few pics from some of the family and friends that have had a chance to meet Elliott. We are so blessed that our baby boy is so loved!

He still needs to meet Brian’s extended family and virtually ALL of my immediate and extended family. He’s only met his grandparents on the Mauss side of things. We can’t wait to introduce him to everyone else!!
