Susanne is without a doubt our family blogger. =) She is far more passionate than I (and far more gifted) about sharing pieces of our lives and our hearts. But, I don’t want to miss the opportunities to communicate when there are things that God has given me revelation on or there are things for which He has given me unction.
We are in a press for the next month to really begin asking our friends, family, and even a stranger or two =) to partner with us as we invest ourselves full time in seeing God’s kingdom come here on earth.
In so many ways we are in such a new season of life, not the least of which is the financial arena. We believe God has called us to invest our full time energy in missions and discipleship. We believe that He has called us to raise support to provide for our family. We trust that He will provide the resources to accomplish these things. We are thankful that He has called us to live by faith in this season in this very real area of family finances. For Susanne and me our natural inclination is toward personal responsibility and a strong work ethic to support ourselves. Trusting God to provide the finances through people like you rather than working for a paycheck ourselves is not the way we would have planned it, but His ways are far better than ours. =)
Ultimately, we trust GOD for our finances. We trust Him to provide for our every need, and this includes money for food, necessities, and even some fun here and there. We believe that He has been the one supporting each of us over our lifetimes, and He has been the one supporting us since we got married. He has used various means to provide for us over the years, starting with our parents, and then our employers, and now, possibly YOU.
But as we ask you to consider giving to us, we want you to look at this possibility not simply as a way to support our family, but rather as a way to invest in the kingdom of God. And this is an investment that you are guaranteed a great return on–even in a world that is uncertain and unstable economically.
We believe that supporting us is similar in some ways to an investment in AAPL or GOOG or even GM. Now–instead of investing for a monetary profit, you are investing in God’s Kingdom; you are investing for eternity… However, what we will do is use your investment to support our family’s needs, basic conveniences, and travel expenses so that we can whole heartedly invest our lives in “knowing God and making Him known” on the mission field in Mexico and beyond. Our “dividend” if you will, will come in the form of regular updates on this website and through email as well as more personal communication as we are able. You will hear the testimonies of: how God is changing our hearts to be more like His, how God is using us to bring salvation to lost people and how God is using us to demonstrate His love to the world through practical means like building houses and running schools. So how can we guarantee that you will get a great return on your investment? Because we believe God when he says in Isaiah 55:
“10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
We have little confidence in ourselves, but we have utmost confidence that the word of God is true and will accomplish what He desires. And so we commit to bringing the Truth of the Word into this world. We commit to doing so by teaching, mentoring and training. We commit to doing so by building homes for families who sleep between patchwork walls of metal and cardboard. We commit to doing so by embracing and helping the least of these.
We believe that God will work through His people in creative ways to advance His Kingdom. We feel that God has called us to be on the mission field in this season, but we also believe that He will use others just as powerfully to advance the Kingdom as they give. We believe that God may have a part for YOU in our work in this manner. Will you consider giving to this cause?
