  • My Birthday!

    My Birthday!

A few favorites from my birthday:

    1. Having the gift of sweet baby Elliott.
    2. Getting to spend another birthday with my Love.
    3. Celebrating with several of my dearest friends.
    4. EATING MY FACE OFF.

A couple things I missed on my birthday:

    1. My family. Holidays make it even harder that they’re far away…
    2. My Colorado friends and my dear friend Danielle (who lives in Hawaii now). But I got to talk to/text with most of them, which was so very special!

We started off my birthday with a bang–BIG BREAKFAST SUNDAY. Only it was Saturday. But still. Anyhow, we had French Toast with strawberries and eggs. Delicious. Then, the three of us ventured out to the mall to try and find me a few new tops that actually FIT (all of my shirts are TOO SHORT post pregnancy! Ahhh, so annoying!!). Then we came home and I got ready while Brian and the Dorseys set up for my birthday party extravaganza.

A side note: My friends Chrisy & John (the Dorseys) are AWESOME. Not only are they dear friends, but they are the finest cooks on this side of the state. I LOVE when they cook for us. I would choose them any day over any restaurant (well, maybe I would pick Salty’s on Alki a time or two…) :). Anyhow, what I wanted for my birthday was to have a few close friends come over for dinner and dessert, and so (of course) Brian made it happen. 🙂

So the Dorsey Diner opened up for business and created the most incredible meal ever: Steak, fresh green beans, salad, mashed potatoes and the most amazing rendition of sweet potato casserole in the entire world. It was like a party in my mouth.

Melisa is going into business (you will want to buy everything she creates, I promise!) and so she decorated our house with some pretties from her “Suzy Line” (you’re welcome, Melisa, for coming up with the perfect name for your new birthday line). Check out the “Happy Birthday” banner and the decorations in the dining room.

    The sweetest gift

I have some pretty amazing friends…

    The soon-to-be Rhees!

The Basses and Michael Parker (our good friend visiting from AZ!)

    The Hilarious Harrises. Love them.

My beautiful (and did I mention SINGLE…come on, guys!!) dear friends Julie & Erika

    My Love

I had to include this picture because I think it just might be the only picture EVER taken where I’m NOT looking at the camera! How did that happen?!? And to top it off, everyone else IS looking at the camera! In my old age, I must be losing my superpower of always knowing where the camera is…

To end a perfectly perfect evening, we ordered a (drum roll please) Cake Batter Ice Cream Cake with Cookie Dough and Chocolate Shavings. Glory of God in a cake.

    The aftermath:

You know it’s a good party when it takes you a week to clean everything up.

Thank you, friends, for celebrating me so well!! I am so loved. 🙂

  • In-laws, Outlaws and Good Friends :)

In-laws, Outlaws and Good Friends 🙂

Here are a few pics from some of the family and friends that have had a chance to meet Elliott. We are so blessed that our baby boy is so loved!

He still needs to meet Brian’s extended family and virtually ALL of my immediate and extended family. He’s only met his grandparents on the Mauss side of things. We can’t wait to introduce him to everyone else!!

    Introducing…!!!!

    Elliott Brian Moberg
Born on March 20, 2011 at 5:25 pm
    The First Day of Spring
    8lbs, 8 oz
    21 1/4 inches long
    *perfection*

There is soooo much to say and write about, but we wanted to post just a few pictures right away for those of you who are far, far away.

I am hoping to write about and post his birthing story very soon, but for those of you who haven’t heard any details, at the very last minute it became necessary to deliver Elliott with an Emergency C-Section. Which, to say the least, was a very difficult word to hear when everything had been right on track and going smoothly all day. Like I said, the story will come later, but for now, all that matters is that we have our baby!!! So here are a few pictures of our beautiful, precious, healthy baby boy!!!!

    Right after Elliott was delivered:

Me, finally getting to hold my baby for the first time

    First family photo…Um, I’m exhausted 🙂

My parents and Brian’s family waited all day in the hospital, bless their hearts. By the time I got to see Elliott after surgery, feed him for the first time and take a minute to breathe, it was already 8pm. But we were able to get all of our family in to meet him before visiting hours were over!

We were all utterly exhausted by the end of the day…it has been a crazy, long, hard, emotional week.

Here is a picture from today, after we’ve all had either sponge baths or showers :). A tiny bit more rested, and a lot more in love with our baby boy.

    The Moberg 3!

It is standard to stay in the hospital 2 nights when you’ve had a C-Section. I seem to be recovering well so if all goes according to plan, we will get to be discharged tomorrow. It’s been great to be in the hospital (thank God for drugs!!!!) but we are so excited to go  home with our baby Elliott!!!

Thank you to everyone who was praying for us! We praise God for our healthy baby boy!!!

    Hailey adores Uncle Brian 🙂

Taylor drove us to find our tree! She did a great job, too!!

The finished product! You can tell where Brian stopped putting the lights on the tree and where I started (as soon as I could reach). Apparently I have a light fetish…we only blew a circuit once :).

We went “home” to Colorado for Thanksgiving this year. I think it’s the first time I’ve been home for Thanksgiving in years! Besides my mom’s scrumptious Thanksgiving cooking, here are the highlights from our trip:

  • Welcome to 2010…Blog Beginnings

    Welcome to 2010…Blog Beginnings

I have had it in the back of my mind to start a blog for a LONG time. But there’s nothing like finding out you have a little peanut on the way, knowing that most of your family and lots of your friends live far, far away, to expedite the blogging process. So we’ve started this blog both for us and for you…it will be a fun way to document life and also to share it with those of you who we don’t get to walk alongside daily, but wish we could. We want our little sugar pea to grow up knowing his/her grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins, second cousins, great aunts & uncles and the dear friends of ours who live in other states. And we want all of you to watch Baby Moby grow up! So here is our attempt at connecting our lives a bit more…

I will try and update my pregnancy “bump” progression as often as I remember…I’ve been terrible at this so far, only remembering every 2 weeks! It doesn’t help that I hardly ever get out of my pajamas these days :).

For those of you that have asked and/or are praying for me 🙂 I want to let you know that my nausea/vomiting has definitely gotten BETTER, but I am for sure not out of the clear. The good news is that I can usually get things under control and be up and moving about most of the day/evening. This is HUGE, and I am SO THANKFUL for this return of life… The bad news is, I’m still throwing up once or twice in the middle of the night/early morning. And still no one has ever heard of this anomaly. Leave it to me to discover a “new” way to have morning sickness… And, there have been a few nights where my dinner just doesn’t stay down, and then it can tend to be a LONG evening/night…

However, in the grand scheme of things, I am SO THANKFUL for the health that has returned to me in the last week or so. I can actually function now during the days and I’m beginning to feel somewhat like a human being again. I still can’t stand the sight/thought/taste of most normal foods. This is the biggest bummer of them all. I miss food tremendously. Everything that I used to LOVE I now hate…Coffee, strawberry shortcake, chicken, every single dinner there is (other than taco salad), fish, brownies, pizza… Oh, it’s all just so incredibly nauseating… I miss it like crazy :(.

Well, welcome to the Moberg Musings. Oh, and a little disclaimer. Those of you, again, that know me well, know that I often mix up my words. You know, “Play it by year,” “the glove deparment,” etc., etc. Normally, people tend to overlook these “mistakes” because when I say a “wrong” word, your human ear automatically corrects it to the right word. Which is why it took about 23 years for my brother to realize and inform me that it’s NOT “play it by year.” Well, when you WRITE, it’s another story. It’s very clear when I “mess up.” So, I just want to say, “Don’t judge me.” 🙂 Brian thinks I’m cute, and that’s all I care about.

We hope you enjoy yourself here and get a greater glimpse into our world… 🙂

We love you! Brian & Susanne
